| This is a story that I started writing about 10 years ago, back when I was in high school. I've never completely finished it, but I've kept going back to it over the years, reworking it, adding and removing different characters and elements. After I started playing the sims, I started collecting custom content, whenever I came across any ancient/ medieval themes, hoping I could get what I needed to create my little world, and thanks to all the great creators out there, I think it's going to be possible. I don't know if I'll ever finish it totally, but it's very dear to me, so I'd like to try.
Though lots of things have changed with this story over the years, the heart of the story is the same. A young woman sets out to find her family again after they have been scattered in an attack on their family home and gets involved in more than she could have imagined along the way.
By the way, I'll be adding an official section for this story on my site eventually, but I was waiting to have a little more finished first and trying to see if a more creative title would come to me, but so far nothing I can think of has suited it better.

| We never forget our first, do we, Em? BLD is much like that for me. The first thing I ever wrote, and writing it spanned over 10 years time or so because I would put away for for awhile, pull it out and work on it, then put it away again.
Titles are the bane of my existence, lol, so I'm afraid I cant' help you in that department! Though I think Penelope's Journey sounds interesting and appropriate.

| Do you remember what, if anything, inspired you to think of this story ten years ago, Em? Was it a movie you saw or a book you read? Or did it just come to you, out of the blue one day? I'm always so intrigued to hear where you writers get your ideas. I can NOT comprehend that kind of thought pattern, let alone breathe life into the idea! I don't know how you, Ari and Z do it. - Quote :

I most definitely look forward to it, my friend. Sounds intriguing!

| It's not really the first. I'd written other things and had other ideas before. I've basically had three major projects, the first was a fanfic series I started writing before I had a computer or used the internet or knew there was such a thing as fanfic. I thought it was just me that was inspired to make up characters and stories from shows, movies, and books. I actually finished that project and have put it completely out of my head. I think the files are still online on an old site I used to run. Maybe I'll read them again someday if I'm feeling brave. Penelope's story is my second project and Arrendale Heights is the third. There have been other stories and ideas, but those are the main ones I've tried to do.
I do remember what inspired me to come up with this story. It was Xena: Warrior Princess. I've always liked historical shows, anything set in other time periods and was interested in Greek mythology when we studied it in school. Plus tramping through the woods, having adventures, and kicking bad guys in the head, sounded like fun to me. lol The story actually had characters from the show in it originally, but I eventually got rid of them completely. They would only come and go throughout the story anyway and I seemed to mostly write and finish just the parts where they weren't in the story at all. So they're gone and it's all original characters now. The second thing that inspired me to pick it up again and add to it was The Lord of the Rings. We read the first book in one of my college English classes and went to see the movie (I still haven't seen the second two movies in the trilogy.) But Onyx (the old hag from the prologue) and her whole part of the story came from that.

I remember that show. Lucy Lawless, right? Anytime chicks kick butt, I'm in. I used to watch Buffy: The Vampire Slayer just so I could watch her take down bloodsuckers. I, too, was always interested in Greek mythology, Em. I liked Roman mythology as well. It was the one time in History class, back in school, I didn't feel compelled to take a nap. I'm a huge LOTR fan, btw. I own the trilogy in dvd and have seen Fellowship of the Ring AT LEAST 15 times.

| I watched Buffy sometimes too and kind of got into it, but not until either the last season or after it was in reruns. I saw the Fellowship of the Ring, in the movies, with my English class, and maybe once after that on TV. I rented the Two Towers twice, but didn't get around to watching it either time. Not long ago, the whole trilogy was on TV and I meant to watch it, but didn't. Maybe because that was after Chase was born, and I couldn't watch a movie uninterrupted (I still can't usually), but I just couldn't get into it. Maybe someday I'll get around to watching them all. | |

| LOVE LOTR! Have seen all three many times! Actually, over my daughter's X-Mas break we saw it again! LOL! I LOVE women who kick arse! I look forward to reading your story Em! It is definitely very interesting the way the ideas come up, totally out of nowhere sometimes, lol! One little word said by someone or something you read, and BOOM! There's the idea! | |

| Yeah, it's pretty amazing how ideas can just come to you or slowly evolve.
My heroine won't be kicking too much butt in this story, unfortunately. She's still pretty young and innocent. Maybe if I wrote the sequel . . . But she does her best trying to hold her own.

| I made a simple index page for the story and also linked it to the main index page of my site. You can check it out here if you'd like. | |
