Ladies & Gentlemen.........I present the Fuggars. LOL

(Sorry - BRIAN named them and I had to go along as I found it HILARIOUS!)

Hunter's Duggar Challenge - "The Fuggars" Fuggar10

Meet John Clyde Fuggar

Hunter's Duggar Challenge - "The Fuggars" Fuggar11

Meet Christine Fuggar

Hunter's Duggar Challenge - "The Fuggars" Fuggar13

Their modest little house. I built it and as of right now.......they hardly have ANY furnishings. The house built cost just under $25,000.

Hunter's Duggar Challenge - "The Fuggars" Fuggar12

This is the floorplan. They have a bed, a couch and a bookcase in the living room. They have one bath completed. Their kitchen is sparse with only a fridge and a stove. They have a dining room table but NO CHAIRS. LOL John Clyde has taken a position in Business and Christine has taken a job in the culinary field. Currently they have $46 after furnishing the house. It's a very sad state of affairs as they'll be sitting in the dark for many evenings.

They're both cancers on the family track of course. They're very sweet and affectionate with eachother - so I'm guessing WHEN it's time the children will just come. THEY are WAITING until they have more than $46 in their account.

I'm debating on whether to use the gift that this weird guy left on their doorstep. In Apartment life this guy leaves a computer in a giftbox on your doorstep. That's NOT cheating right? BUT in real life people don't do that.......so I'm thinking I won't use it.

Okay - more to come later but this should be fun........AND CHALLENGING. I NEVER play BROKE Sims. LOL

Wow! That's some house, Hunter! My Kokopelli abode is tiny compared to your Fuggar home.
I will definitely be expanding on it as all the bambini arrive, but desparately wanted them to have some stuff and a small bank account prior to all the kids coming.

It's neat the way we both chose Cancer as the sign for our fertile Sims.
It is the mother sign of the zodiac , a very family oriented sign and one of the most nurturing, fyi.

The computer you are referring to is delivered by Mr. Humble and is a Freetime EP addition, actually.
I am utilizing it as the gift it is. My Sims mostly just chat and play games on their puter.
I had the Kokopelli's use the newspaper to find their jobs.

How did you accomplish the look of the first two screenshots, btw? Very artsy!

I haven't used the money cheat in forever, to be honest. I used to use it all the time, so my Sims could have a decent, well-decorated abode straight away. But then I realized how awesome it is to have them EARN everything the old fashioned way.
It's so neat to have them go from having NOTHING to enjoying all the finer things, plus a plump little bank account. I feel such a sense of accomplishment when my once poverty stricken Sims manage to accumulate a $250,000 savings. It ROCKS!

Great job, so far. I can't believe the size of the house you built for the allotted amount. WOAH!
Thank you for sharing. I'm going to start my Sugah's Place update, then try to play some more tonight.

PostSubject: Re: Hunter's Duggar Challenge - "The Fuggars"   Hunter's Duggar Challenge - "The Fuggars" EmptyMay 13th 2009, 10:18 pm

Thanks Sugah.

I recently added Free Time AND Apartment Life - and I assumed that the computer came with Apartment Life.

When I designed the house - I used the cheapest materials in my arsenal - which helped A LOT. The house is a good size - but I don't think it's near as large as they'll need. As for the furnishings - what little they have - again I used the cheapest things in the arsenal. Only 1 of the bedrooms has any wallpaper/paint. The other bathroom has NOTHING in it. Most of the rooms are bare. What's fun about this for me is that I USED to play like that when I first started. I'd move my Sims into a decent lot - but only have a few pieces of furniture - then make them work for what they needed. Kind of like my real life. My mother wanted me to completely furnish my first apartment from corner to corner before I moved in and I said "NOPE". I slept in a recliner for about a week before I got my bed - then each week I'd add my pieces. It was an exciting time. I do NOT have the energy to do it that way again. LOL You're right - it is fun to see them come from nothing.

The artsy shots were unintentional and I think what I did was NOTHING. LOL

As for them both being Cancer - I think there was no question that that was what I'd have them be. I think they'll both be fabulous parents and I can't wait to see the results.

I'm enjoying this and look forward to seeing more in your thread too!

I think their name is hilarious too. I was almost expecting them to be ugly sims, instead of the looker they are. I like your floor plan too. Nice house.

I have a hack that keeps Mr. Humble from delivering the computer to every house. I think I might miss that with this challenge.

No.....didn't make them ugly. Brian just was thinking Meet the Parents - The Fockers - so he said "The Fuggars". Cracked me up.

I.........have decided and think they will accept the gift. We'll call it a housewarming present - that happens in real life. LOL

Picking up with the Fuggars.........

Christine spends a lot of time reading and researching about cooking on the Internet and in books.

Hunter's Duggar Challenge - "The Fuggars" Fuggar10

She's taken a career in the culinary field and while now - it doesn't pay much money - she really loves it and will apply it to her future. There will be no McDonald's for the Fuggar kids when they come.

Hunter's Duggar Challenge - "The Fuggars" Fuggar11

Here she's perfected her Bruschetta - a favorite of John Clyde.

Hunter's Duggar Challenge - "The Fuggars" Fuggar12

He LOVES Christine's cooking........but he would like to have some dining room chairs to sit in one day. So many dreams........they seem so far away. He originally was going to take up the business career - but immediately switched to a political career. His living situation with Christine has impassioned him to want better for not only them - but for their community.

Hunter's Duggar Challenge - "The Fuggars" Fuggar13

Times are tough right now (only about $1,046 in the bank account) but they really love each other and both remain optimistic.

Hunter's Duggar Challenge - "The Fuggars" Fuggar14

John Clyde goes to bed early which leaves Christine a few hours in the evening to herself. She likes to jump rope and clean.

Hunter's Duggar Challenge - "The Fuggars" Fuggar15

Though they do not have children yet, one day they will and Christine has already made up her mind that there must be order. Her and John Clyde dream of having as many children as God will bless them with............

The Focker's.

There's actually a family in Canada that has that name. I can't remember how the story went, but the last name was kind of "suggestive" until someone pointed out in the Canadian Phone Book that a family actually has that last name. So, the title of the movie stayed.

An interesting family. They look so young and in the picture, they're looking into each others eyes and smiling. That's kinda romantic!

Oh, this is so neat! Are you still playing the Fuggars, my friend?
I am hoping I have some time to play tomorrow (Sunday), but am not sure what the rest of this weekend holds.

I am going to have to read over what I've accomplished so far, as it's been over 2 weeks, so I've completely forgotten my Kokopellis! lol

Thank you for sharing. Sounds like you and I are playing our families similarly at this time.
Can't wait to learn what happens next!

PostSubject: Re: Hunter's Duggar Challenge - "The Fuggars"   Hunter's Duggar Challenge - "The Fuggars" EmptyJune 13th 2009, 6:39 pm

When we last left the Fuggars.......they were not doing well financially and had just started their jobs.

Hunter's Duggar Challenge - "The Fuggars" Fuggar18

John Clyde just started out in the political field and Christine in the Culinary field. Christine LOVES cooking and John Clyde longs to make the world a better place.

Hunter's Duggar Challenge - "The Fuggars" Fuggar21

Christine, being a very creative person - has convinced John Clyde to invest in a Pottery maker for her. She feels very strongly that what was once a hobby in school - could be a good investment. John Clyde supports her - but has NO IDEA or interest in pottery.

Hunter's Duggar Challenge - "The Fuggars" Fuggar23-vi

John Clyde prefers to keep physically active as a hobby. His other dream hobby is auto restoration, but it's a secret he's kept from Christine for awhile. He knows of an older gentleman in the neighborhood who has an old beater. John Clyde wants to restore the vehicle - but he knows that he will have to put money into it to fix it to his standards.

Hunter's Duggar Challenge - "The Fuggars" Fuggar15-vi

They're in love though.

Hunter's Duggar Challenge - "The Fuggars" Fuggar16-vi

Affection comes very easily to them.

Hunter's Duggar Challenge - "The Fuggars" Fuggar17

The fact that they do not yet own a television helps in this department too!!! LOL

Hunter's Duggar Challenge - "The Fuggars" Fuggar22

Uh-oh...........

Hunter's Duggar Challenge - "The Fuggars" Fuggar36

They've decided love got them this far - and that they be fine no matter what their situation. They are very excited about having a baby and more in love than ever.

~~~~~~
Hunter's Duggar Challenge - "The Fuggars" Fuggar33-vi
Showing now......John Clyde still can't keep his eyes or his hands off of Christine.
Hunter's Duggar Challenge - "The Fuggars" Fuggar31-vi
Life is going pretty good. John Clyde has been promoted to lobbyist. Christine works in fast food - but is making a nice supplemental income with her pottery.
Hunter's Duggar Challenge - "The Fuggars" Fuggar13
Life goes about pretty much as usual. John Clyde still works on his physical fitness.
And on one quiet day. While John Clyde is reading his fitness magazine.........
Hunter's Duggar Challenge - "The Fuggars" Fuggar29-vi
OH MY GOSH!!! Christine is thinking to herself - I'm going into labor and HE reads he keeps reading his magazine?????!!!!!
Hunter's Duggar Challenge - "The Fuggars" Fuggar28-vi
"Are you KIDDING ME HERE?????" John Clyde is immersed in his magazine.
Hunter's Duggar Challenge - "The Fuggars" Fuggar27-vi
OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hunter's Duggar Challenge - "The Fuggars" Fuggar26
World.........welcome Mitchell Fuggar.
Hunter's Duggar Challenge - "The Fuggars" Fuggar24-vi
Okay, John Clyde has come to his senses and put down the magazine. Love........they are both immediately in love with their son. "Wow.........Christine - you are the most amazing person ever. I don't think other than in death I could ever get closer to God. I love you." John Clyde cries.
Hunter's Duggar Challenge - "The Fuggars" Fuggar37
Happier than ever.......Christine worries a little. Mitchell's mother - that's something BIG to live up to. We're going to do it! Our lives will continue to be good - in fact now with Mitchell - our lives will be absolutely AWESOME.
~~~

Hunter's Duggar Challenge - "The Fuggars" Fuggar48-vi

Mitchell's grown into a toddler.

Hunter's Duggar Challenge - "The Fuggars" Fuggar34-vi

John Clyde continues to thrive in his political career. He loves his family immensely - but LOVES when he gets to go on his evening jogs after putting Mitchell to bed.

Hunter's Duggar Challenge - "The Fuggars" Fuggar42-vi

Christine continues with ther pottery - and in fact earns about $1200 a week selling her wares.

Hunter's Duggar Challenge - "The Fuggars" Fuggar51-vi

She spends her days with Mitchell. She works a few nights a week at the fast food joint and on her evenings off - she makes her pottery.

Hunter's Duggar Challenge - "The Fuggars" Fuggar47-vi

Wow - life is really working out!!

Hunter's Duggar Challenge - "The Fuggars" Fuggar49-vi

When one night.........John Clyde makes a suggestion. "You want a what???" Christine says. John Clydge thinks it's time they add to their family.

Hunter's Duggar Challenge - "The Fuggars" Fuggar50-vi

"You're a wonderful father - I would LOVE to have another baby with you."

His expression as she's using the pottery wheel is hilarious. I can't tell you how many times I've seen simhusbands just sit there while their wives are going into labor. Stupid, sim men! LOL

No joke?!? I had NO IDEA our Sims could earn that much with the pottery wheel. Does the Sim have to have a lot of creativity points before they can earn that much? Can they earn a lot with the sewing machine, too?
I need to check my Prima Freetime Guide, as I've never explored this aspect of the EP.
$1200 a week extra income while they are climbing up their career ladders is an AWESOME supplement, m'lady!

My sentiments EXACTLY, Em. That's precisely what I was thinking.
John Clyde reminds me far more of Jean Claude (Jean=John in French, btw) than of Jim Bob (you've got to be kidding me, for crying outloud ... it SCREAMS of redneck!).

It was so great seeing your beautiful family and all the fun screenshots, Hunter.

PostSubject: Re: Hunter's Duggar Challenge - "The Fuggars"   Hunter's Duggar Challenge - "The Fuggars" EmptyJune 14th 2009, 7:38 pm

I'm a little nuts Sugah........when I play Sims - they change their clothes EVERYDAY like in real life. I'm VERY psychotic about that. USUALLY when I play - I change make-up and sometimes hair too - sometimes accessories - but Christine does NOT have the time.

Each of them has about 25 articles of clothing currently so you'll see them again unless they keep making money as well as they do. I'm proud of their success so far. They do not live a luxurious or extravagant lifestyle - but they truly seem happy to me.

Christine makes about 3 - 4 pottery tea sets a day and they currently sell for $70 a piece. Of course - when she started they weren't doing that well. The woman definitely lacks in the sleep department - but her creativity level is currently at 6. I'm not sure about the sewing machine - but do hope to find out.

I started out with a big house - but no paint, no carpet - NOTHING for a long time. They had the space - but the house was VERY unfinished. It's getting there and I'm loving playing them more and more - of course with the more children they have the more challenging it will be.

John Clyde isn't as bad as Jim Bob - you're both right about that so I'll stop complaining about John Clyde. I will NOT be naming a downloadable Sim after him though. LOL

Okay - I know there are several posts I need to respond to - but while able I'm going to fire up the Fuggars and see what happens next.

This is so much fun you guys - I'm so glad we're doing it together!

I feel the same way about my Kokopelli brood, m'lady.
They live a modest lifestyle, and are a close, happy, loving family.

That's so neat. I'm going to look into all of this.
I think it'd be fun to create a Sim whose pre-destined hobby is Arts & Crafts (that usually means "sloppy & nice", lol) and see if she/he could make a living strictly off of her paintings, pottery and perhaps, sewing.

Quote :

I have a hard time with the MAIN rooms being bare walled/floored completely empty, though I have endured that a time or two.
With the Kokopellis, all but a few rooms had to be left naked.
This enabled me to I fix up the main ones a wee bit, so I could stand to play the lot. Giggle

Hunter's Duggar Challenge - "The Fuggars" Empty
PostSubject: Re: Hunter's Duggar Challenge - "The Fuggars"   Hunter's Duggar Challenge - "The Fuggars" EmptyJune 15th 2009, 11:29 am

I've used the Aging off cheat (I use it intermittently). I question them being able to have 14 and raising them properly without it.

I use the Insimenator because it allows me to control Christine's pregnancies. I have them get pregnant the old-fashioned way - but I'm guessing I'll be implanting a couple of sets of twins down the road. It allows for a LOT of things - but I use it for that. I also use it to buy clothes without having to leave the lot. It has tons of options - but I think those are the only fair ones for me to use.

I've been TEMPTED to use the Max Motives and Aspirations - because sometimes I think they're going to die, but I'll choose for something to give. The other night Christine said "The hell with it" and took a shower while Max cried sitting in his dirty diaper. Allowing her that quick shower enabled her to be better for him the rest of the day. Both Fuggars are both dead tired by the end of their days...........if only they knew HOW MUCH worse it's going to get. LOL

I also use Squinge's hack that will allow for more than 8 Sims on a lot.

Those are it.
