| Okay, I gotta get in on this one, you two! Like both of you, I talk to many of my Sims and often get attached to them, as if they were actually real. I talk to them, get annoyed with them ... especially if they are waving at me if they're bored, lonely or hungry or crouching if they have to pee ... I'm like "Well, get in there and watch some tv, for crying outloud" or "You know where the freakin' bathroom is!" lol You get the picture. Like yours, some of my Sims seem to take on a unique personality all their own, and I, too, get amused by so many of their antics. I become enamoured with watching them more often than not. Several of my Sims have come to feel like old friends. I feel as though I really KNOW them. You know? That's why this game is so endearing and addictive. We simply get attached to many of our Sims. We care about them, as though they were not virtual little people, but actually real entities in our worlds. Your restless Ashton and fidgety Layla crack me up, Ed and H. I have a couple of uncooperative models like that, myself! I'm like ... "Sit still, will ya??? Sheesh"! | |

| You know, I think the looks of the TS3 sims is the biggest complaint I've heard about the game. I wonder if more people would be eager to buy it if the sims were better looking. If you're nuts, Hunter, then so are we all. Sugah's dialogue with her sims sounds like me sometimes. They should be able to find the bathroom on their own, right? Why do they need to complain to us about it? | |

| Okay......I'm gonna PROVE how nuts I am.
At my old site I had a model that whined incessantly. I had finally had enough - I mean GO TO THE BATHROOM - GET A PLATE OF FOOD (the buffet is right there for God's sake!). All of these things they could have done for themselves. Now this was all before I downloaded Insimenator into my game. With that one tool I control EVERYTHING. They never get hungry, tired, have to go to the bathroom, get overheated - etc.
Anyhoo......she was just complaining WAY too much for me. She would freaking stare up at me and holler and kick. I was like "Look - YOU BETTER back down Missy." And then I snapped - she tested me one too many times. I built a 3 x 3 square fenced in area.......no toilet, no chair - NOTHING. I put her in it. I LEFT her there. Let's just say an urn is now where SHE USED to be.
Any of you ever do THAT?
(On the point about how they look - NONE of us are crazy for thinking they're FUGLY - THEY ARE!)

| I've never killed a Sim. Don't have the heart or guts too.
About the only thing that annoyed me with TJ and Charles was, I had a big office for me. Put computers in it Now, when TJ was on the one computer, Charles would throw hissy fits. I quit the game, logged on and zipped over to InSIM, made a request to see it there was a hack to stop that whining. Viola! There was! Snatched that puppy up. Now, ni more whining!
I do agree, they are so icky! It's the eyes that turn me off. Lifeless, hollow, empty..........

| Em, I've heard that, too. The looks of the pixel people in Sims 3 is what many of the complaints are about. I concur on that regard, as you know. They're just plain icky. I don't like the way they look AT ALL! Yes, I have been THAT annoyed with a Sim or two, Hunter. When I played TS1, I had a Sim called Bella Ziti. (She lived in the hood where everyone was named after an Italian food or drink. I fully intend on resurrecting that neighborhood for TS2 one day, incidently.) Anyhoo, I couldn't please her, esp. regarding finding a love mate. No fella seemed good enough. No conversation was ever interesting enough. She snubbed her nose at many advances, til finally, I thought... Well, maybe male Sims aren't her cup of tea. Maybe she preferred her own sex, romantically. After a decent amount of time trying to hook her up with several attractive female Sims, I STILL couldn't make her happy. I got so disgusted with her after awhile, I had her dive into the pool and took away the ladder. Later, a snacky law enforcement agent named Tony Fettucine moved into her full furnished abode (if I am remembering correctly), and he was a doll. Regrets, you say? None, whatsoever. I use the MaxMotives cheat when I am having a hard time keeping Sims happy. It's been a huge help to me. Sometimes, if I'm on a mission for something, I'll use motiveDecay off, too, so they remain in the green. | |

| The one thing that bugged me about Sims 1 was, all the hair/clothes/faces you had to cycle through just to find the right combo. When they made skins, you actually had to remember what went with what. Other than that, I had fun!
I was a big fan of Fairywitch, SecretSims, STP Carly's stuff. I still have all my Sims 1 downloads on disc. Plus, I backed up my entire Sims 1 folder. If I every want to play it again, all I gotta do is,unzip it and copy it.
The good old days.........

| I think I have all my TS1 sims and stuff on disc somewhere too. I should check that out sometime and see what I actually saved.
No, I've never gotten so annoyed with a sim that I locked them in a room or had them take a swim without a ladder. I just can't bring myself to do that, but I think it's kind of funny that your sim drove you to do that.
Your Bella, sounds like a riot, Sugah. If it was my sim, I probably would have kept her alive though and let her live her sad, bitter, lonely little life. I have had sims like that though that never seem to have a decent conversation or interaction with anyone. It can be kind of annoying, but entertaining at the same time.

| I think it's hysterical. The Sims 3 BBS is full of nothing but complaints.
People that went the Digital Download option can't even download the game. They only get halfway through before error's start showing up.
Someone bought the (legal) game and went to go register it. It came back saying she had an illegal copy.
Another complaint is, you can't change the size of their eyes. Huge empty, lifeless, hollow eyes.
I'm glad I'm one of many, many, many people that didn't bother getting the game.
ETA:
I copied this from InSIM:
I am so angry! I went ahead and did it, I bought my game this morning and got it home popped it in and low and behold, I am bomb barded with problems from the get go. First thing I noticed was my game was running extremley too slow even on the lowest of settings. I mean I literally spent 3 hours in CAS choosing what to wear for my sim, because it took I know atleast 15 minutes for the clothes sort to load! I haven't noticed anything apparent as of yet but I think this next one is well worth any other bug I could imagine, and quite possibly the most damaging! Everytime I go into either a premade lot or add a CAS sim everything is peachy until I go into build or buy mode and then when I try to direct my sim to take an action she just stand there like an idiot and won't move! I noticed the only time they will move is if THEY want to do something like go to the friggin' library for example. I went to the official site to try to get some help by registering, and I was mortified to see the pages of help threads posted at the site. I saw 35 pages in counting of hundreds of people literally begging EA for help and not one time has EA wrote back to help any of them! I mean what is this s--t?! Is this some kind of sick joke? I don't find it the slightest bit amusing, that they refuse to help anyone. I am so mad and frustrated I just don't know what to do, I just spent 55$ for this piece of s--t and I can't even play it!
If anyone is interested in the fire storm over at the official site they should go check it out, because you will not believe it till you see it!
I will admit, I screwed up big time and will NEVER give EA another damn dime!

| Wow. Sounds like this is turning into a fiasco. Even though I'm not planning on getting the game, regardless, I hope they can straighten this all out for the people who are having so many problems. | |

| If you Google Sims 3 - All I find ARE COMPLAINTS.
I have a real problem with the idea of having to buy expansion packs to enable my Sims to do what they do in Sims 2.
These complaints were at IGN:
"The Car Pool for work - Annoying because I have my own car... you go to work in your car and the car pool still comes and will sit there for an hour. They should have really had an option to not use the car pool.
Sims can disappear [leave town] - This is an intended feature, but one person on the official sims board switched to a another family and found out that their created sim of themselves had moved out of town while they were the other family.
Lack of seasons or calendar of any kind - maybe it's nit picking, but for something that simulates life should have a proper calendar of some sort as standard not tossed in an add-on later on."
________________
"Any complaints about the game? Are you kidding me? HAHAHA! I have 'a few' I'd like to share...
-Car magically disappears and appears for travel where in the sims 2 it would wait at community lots (you could go inside of) and actually pull out of drive ways. It wouldn't pull this teleportation crap.
-What's this "Move out Furnished or Unfurnished" thing? Not a big deal, but if I move out, I wan my cash for my sim, no questions asked.
-My girlfriend has been a die hard fan since the beginning, all expansions, bells and whistles. I saw it all. Why does she all of a sudden have such troubles navigating through the game? Whats with these images to selects parts to build a house? Why isn't it just in the old 'folder' fashion?
-Even though the create a sim feature is best, why is the facial construction so limited? Hair styles suck, facial hair sucks, facial structures are all identical. All the sims look like "A Brotha from a different Motha".
-8.9? From what we were all hyped about, this is a huge disappointment. Was I the only actually reading the up coming info?
-It feels like that "yeah, this new game was nice, but when is a new Sims 2 expansion coming out"? Something liek $200 in expansions to restart at square one? Will they even have expansions? Or will it all be individual pieces on the websites for who knows how much?
-Where is create my own town? let alone the optional towns? Like strange town or Veronaville? Sure I got to download a town, but now it's all in payments?
-Alien ships, floating pigs...
-It feels too different. Why change it? Just improving on what we were used to on Sims 2 for 5 years would have been perfection.
-Sure the graphics are nice, but it feels like I'm popping in Shrek on my DVD player and holding on to my 360 controller.
-Aspirations being fulfilled. They have a redundant music playing rather than a simple chime. Too excessive, it gets annoying.
-I'll still keep an open mind, hopefully I'll learn to like it. It's still nothing like it once was"

"-Several buildings don't have interiors. You just click on the building in map mode and select some general action and your Sim goes there and does that action. Shopping and dining, especially, are kind of boring. I liked being able to interact with objects and other Sims within those two situations. Suppose we'll have to wait for the inevitable expansions to 'unlock' those features."

And that's only a few of MANY I've seen - not just as IGN - but Gamespot, etc. I think they, despite all the setbacks - rushed to get this thing out and by doing so have made a huge mistake. I would be pissed buying Sims 3 just to find they can't even compete with what my Sims 2 do.
I didn't intend on getting it - and all of this bruha has just reaffirmed my choice.

| The Sims 3 seemed wonderful because of the seamless neighborhoods. I also thought that all of the previous expansions to the Sims 2 would help create a better Sims 3 but I guess I was wrong. I see a lot of complaints about the game and most of the praises for the game is because of the seamless neighborhoods only.
I was always turned off by the Sims 3 because of the faces. I don't understand how they went backwards in respect to this feature. They appear like cartoon faces. In my opinion, these are the faces that should have been used for the Sims 2.
I also got to thinking about why Will Wright left. I do believe he wanted to grow and start new but it seems like he left because he knew this game was going to be a failure.
Now that people are saying that the game isn't going to be as customizable as the Sims 2, I don't want it at all. One feature is not enough to make the game.
I had hoped that EA would have pushed the game release date back because they wanted to improve it but of course they didn't.
This might be the death for this game unless they do some major overhauls with the first expansion pack including overhauls to the actual code. They should really redo the game and then give everyone who bought the game a free copy of the game.
I know that they don't want this game to be customizable because they want the money from the mods that can be created for the games but what the dummies don't understand is that this is one of the major appeals of the game and without it, the game is going to die.
I have never played WoW but I understand that customization is one of the main features that keeps people interested in the game.
Those idiots don't know their customers. I bet they thought everyone who had previously played was going to jump up and buy this game.

You are exactly right. Why change it instead of improving on it. One reason why they changed was because they wanted more gamers to play. They wanted the gamers who play mostly action and war games to buy this product. ( These players are still saying that the game is not their cup tea). Another reason is because due to all of the pay sites, they discovered how much money they can make from selling mods. I am positive they have done their research on this. I bet they have even went as far as having some of their people set up accounts on these sites and their forums so that they can get a better idea of the possible monetary value. They probably could not allow for moding of the Sims with out also allowing for the moding of everything that the sims use so, they decided to lock it all. I hope they know that the majority of us will not put up with it. I knew better than to buy this until it actually hit the stores first. Those images of the Sims 3 remind me of those horrible movies that they use the good scenes to entice the person and then when you look at the whole movie your disappointed.
