Resorting CC

I am hoping this is not something that reveals too much of my ignorance :)

Is there any way I can fix where a CC item is found (buy/build mode) if is placed somewhere that doesn't make any sense? For example, a lamp that you find with the rugs. Some of those misplacements are bothers, but my downloads are getting so numerous that it seems to take forever to find something where it should be. But I am also interested in reorganizing clothing so that they are in the correct catagory...there is just some lingerie that I do not want my sims to wear as a swimsuit/athletic wear.

I know I can make collection files to sort things, but this seems a bit overwhelming at the moment as my stuff is getting pretty unmanageable.
