So long Sassy.
Dixie Carter, who gained television fame as Julia Sugarbaker on the long-running CBS sitcom "Designing Women," has died. She was 70.
Carter had a long career as a stage actress and cabaret singer. But her signature role was as the opinionated star of "Designing Women" which focused on four women running an interior design firm in Atlanta.
Dixie is survived by her loving husband of 26 years, Hal Holbrook, daughters Mary Dixie and Ginna and a sister, Melba Helen Heath.
You will be missed.
I was a loyal viewer of Designing Women and I fell in love with Dixie's character Julia Sugarbaker. She was sassy, smart, classy, eloquent, firy, beautiful - just everything I wanted to grow up to be. This scene is of her defending her sister, whom this Marjorie chick had been making fun of. I cried every time I saw this scene. We should all love our sisters and family so much.

I was so saddened to hear of her passing. I think she was a very gifted actress and just an all around good person.
I too just loved her on Desiging Women. Being from the South, I can totally appreciate Julia's sense of family loyalty. As we say here, it's ok if I talk about my sister but you dang well better not or be prepared for the blow up darlin'!

I got a wage memory, she in a hospital, much younger, but I don't remember, any way that short movie you posted was really good, It make me glad, and yes after what I see there, she was a good actress
