SIMply Edward Hacked

I start this post with a very heavy heart.

It seems that SIMply Edward has also been hacked and attacked.

If you go to http://simplyedward2.forumotion.net - the site is GONE.

Ed is aware of this and going through channels to see if the forum can be restored.

I believe he will be posting more about this.

It sounds to me like that email is a way to get peoples passwords. The hackers are probaly trying to get other site owners passwords. Sorry your site got hacked. This really sucks .

I'm back up and running. I had to use the backup feature the website host provides.

And, I changed my password.

I'm so sorry to hear that they got to you too, Ed. It's terrible that this keeps happening to people. I'm glad you were able to be back up and running again so quickly.

I posted this over at SIMply Edward's, but thought I'd do so here, as well.
It IS despicable and we must find a way to stop these horrible hackers.

I must say, I am so impressed with Forumotion's response to our hijackings, Ed.
They restore our little forums and get them back up in no time, thankfully.

I wanted you to take a look at your Admin Panel and the admin activity during the course of the possible hijacking.
You will see an IP addy completely different from yours, just as I did.
I have checked the IP addy that hijacked my site and it IS THE SAME.
When I Google the IP of the hacker, it comes up as the same internet server: THEPLANET.COM INTERNET SERVICES with the location being in Houston.

I was told to file a claim at ic3.gov.
I also reported the hacking to the above internet provider, too.

Ed has since looked into it and is on the case!

It appears.......that it has happened again.

What is going on?? Really - what is going on???

I don't understand how this person is getting us all - and gotten Ed twice.

How can people sleep at night??? I mean really - how does one destroy something that doesn't belong to them and sleep at night? How can one be such an unconscionable bastard like that?

Whoever the individual is/individuals are - it's a freaking CRIME. Information of some of the hacking you've done had been obtained through hosting sites that we use and your information has been reported to the FBI Internet Crimes Division. According to them - an Internet Crime is defined as follows:

• Internet crime is defined as any illegal activity involving one or more components of the Internet, such as websites, chat rooms, and/or email.
  

• Internet crime involves the use of the Internet to communicate false or fraudulent representations to consumers.
  

• These crimes may include, but are not limited to, advance-fee schemes, non-delivery of goods or services, computer hacking, or employment/business opportunity schemes.
  

There is a wide range of penalties for internet crimes. However, those who have been convicted of an internet crime should be
prepared for the following possible penalties:

• Jail time ranging from a few months to many years
  
• Financial fines
  

Internet Crime Sentencing
The specific penalty range for an internet crime depends on a number of factors such as:

• the exact crime committed;
  
• the number of victims;
  
• the amount of money involved in the crime; and
  
• the defendant’s criminal record.

I am glad you are back up Ed I wish this would all just stop its just crazy whats going on.

Why do people have to be so mean? This is just craziness...... Sometimes you just have to wonder about people who want to try and ruin it for others....

I'm so sorry this has happened Ed, glad to see you are able to get back up so quickly i think i'd be in bits but your strengh thoughout all this (as well as sugahs and hunters) has been remarkable!

I wish i could do more and apoligise for not being around as im very ill at the moment.

Oh, by the way...for those that don't know yet...Edward shut down SIMply Edward a few weeks ago, but now...Simply Edward is back online, but with a new name...Michael's Musings!
