If you Google Sims 3 - All I find ARE COMPLAINTS.
I have a real problem with the idea of having to buy expansion packs to enable my Sims to do what they do in Sims 2.
These complaints were at IGN:
"The Car Pool for work - Annoying because I have my own car... you go to work in your car and the car pool still comes and will sit there for an hour. They should have really had an option to not use the car pool.
Sims can disappear [leave town] - This is an intended feature, but one person on the official sims board switched to a another family and found out that their created sim of themselves had moved out of town while they were the other family.
Lack of seasons or calendar of any kind - maybe it's nit picking, but for something that simulates life should have a proper calendar of some sort as standard not tossed in an add-on later on."

"Any complaints about the game? Are you kidding me? HAHAHA! I have 'a few' I'd like to share...
-Car magically disappears and appears for travel where in the sims 2 it would wait at community lots (you could go inside of) and actually pull out of drive ways. It wouldn't pull this teleportation crap.
-What's this "Move out Furnished or Unfurnished" thing? Not a big deal, but if I move out, I wan my cash for my sim, no questions asked.
-My girlfriend has been a die hard fan since the beginning, all expansions, bells and whistles. I saw it all. Why does she all of a sudden have such troubles navigating through the game? Whats with these images to selects parts to build a house? Why isn't it just in the old 'folder' fashion?
-Even though the create a sim feature is best, why is the facial construction so limited? Hair styles suck, facial hair sucks, facial structures are all identical. All the sims look like "A Brotha from a different Motha".
-8.9? From what we were all hyped about, this is a huge disappointment. Was I the only actually reading the up coming info?
-It feels like that "yeah, this new game was nice, but when is a new Sims 2 expansion coming out"? Something liek $200 in expansions to restart at square one? Will they even have expansions? Or will it all be individual pieces on the websites for who knows how much?
-Where is create my own town? let alone the optional towns? Like strange town or Veronaville? Sure I got to download a town, but now it's all in payments?
-Alien ships, floating pigs...
-It feels too different. Why change it? Just improving on what we were used to on Sims 2 for 5 years would have been perfection.
-Sure the graphics are nice, but it feels like I'm popping in Shrek on my DVD player and holding on to my 360 controller.
-Aspirations being fulfilled. They have a redundant music playing rather than a simple chime. Too excessive, it gets annoying.
-I'll still keep an open mind, hopefully I'll learn to like it. It's still nothing like it once was"

"-Several buildings don't have interiors. You just click on the building in map mode and select some general action and your Sim goes there and does that action. Shopping and dining, especially, are kind of boring. I liked being able to interact with objects and other Sims within those two situations. Suppose we'll have to wait for the inevitable expansions to 'unlock' those features."

And that's only a few of MANY I've seen - not just as IGN - but Gamespot, etc. I think they, despite all the setbacks - rushed to get this thing out and by doing so have made a huge mistake. I would be pissed buying Sims 3 just to find they can't even compete with what my Sims 2 do.
I didn't intend on getting it - and all of this bruha has just reaffirmed my choice.
